Travio

Never lose your luggage again. A hybrid GPS, Bluetooth and eSIM tracker, an iOS and Android mobile app, and an Azure platform. Unlike Bluetooth trackers, Travio talks straight to the cellular network: it needs no nearby phone to report its position.

The problem

Every year, 26 million bags are lost or delayed worldwide — a figure published by IATA. When a bag disappears, the traveller does not know where it is, cannot prove anything, and depends entirely on the airline to find out.

Existing trackers all share one flaw: they depend on other phones to work. A Bluetooth tracker is only visible when a compatible device passes nearby. In a transfer warehouse, a cargo hold or a quiet area, nobody passes.

A market blind spot. Trackers tied to the Apple ecosystem rule out the 57% of travellers on Android from the start — a share that rises to 85% in African markets, where no competitor is positioned.

The technical answer

Travio combines three technologies in one device: GPS for position, Bluetooth Low Energy for immediate proximity, and an LTE-M cellular modem with eSIM to transmit straight to the cloud, with no intermediary.

This is a different architecture, not an incremental improvement. The tracker works in every country covered by the LTE-M network and in every mode of transport, whether or not a phone is within range.

Data sovereignty

Location data is among the most sensitive there is. Travio stores it on Azure in the Canadian region, in line with Law 25 and PIPEDA on the Canadian side, GDPR on the European side. It is neither sold nor shared — a point on which several players in the sector have been criticised.

How it works

Three steps, and the bag reports in

1

Drop in the tracker

The device goes into the bag. No wiring, no hardware setup.

2

Follow from the app

The app shows the position and fires the alerts you configured.

3

Share if something goes wrong

Lost mode increases reporting frequency and lets you hand the location to a third party.
